Halifax Optometry Clinic Aids Sri LankaCreated:January 24, 2005Dr.David Dobbelsteyn was approached by one of our long term patients, Tissa Amaratunga, who was leaving soon for his hometown in Sri Lanka that had been hit by the tsunami. Tissa's brother (who works in a medical clinic operated by the Lion's Club in Sri Lanka) had called him and indicated they were in desperate need of an eye biomicroscope.Dr. Dave went into action and attempted to source out a microscope from a variety of manufacturers on short notice. Innova was able to provide such an instrument and made this available at very attractive pricing in view of it's intended use. Thanks Innova! Our local lens finishing lab (Eastern Optical Ltd.) with whom we enjoy a fine working relationship, also indicated they'd be more than happy to assist us with some of the financing for this diagnostic instrument. Arrangements were made, and the ocular Biomicroscope was relayed to Mr. Amaratunga on Friday Jan 21st here at the clinic on Brunswick Stret. It accompanied him to Sri Lanka on Saturday Jan 22nd!
