"Optomap" Arrives at Insight Optometry Clinic!Created:01/06/2007Your Doctors are pleased to announce that we have added a new diagnostic imaging instrument to our clinical tools. The new "Optomap" by Optos arrived in November/06, and we have now had ample opportunity to come to appreciate it's capabilities.Essentially, this rather amazing instrument is the first of it's kind to allow a full 200 degree image capture of the internal structures of your eye. This is then transmitted to the Optometrist's desktop where it can be reviewed with you during your evaluation, and compared visit to visit to provide earlier diagnosis of many eye diseases and eye changes. A fascinating additon to our diagnostic capabilities to be sure. This instrument's history includes 8million images safely captured in the world since it's introduction. It was invented by an engineer whose 5 year old son had a retinal detachment that was not diagnosed on 2 separate occassions by 2 different doctors. (it can be appreciated that sometimes viewing the retinas of a younger patient can really present its challenges for any health care provider) The technology this engineer invented allows an amazing image capture in just 1/4 of a second which can then be examined with as much time taken as necessary. As of February 1, 2007, we will be including this new diagnostic test for every patient at every visit. You can be assured that we will continue to care for you with the most up to date technology.
