Dr. Paul GrayDr. Gray was born in Halifax, and spent his early years in Nova Scotia. As part of an Air Force family, he moved to Ontario as a youngster, and was schooled with aboriginal classmates in the far north until grade eight. High School was completed in North Bay and Toronto, and subsequently Paul was accepted to the University of Waterloo Science program, followed by the Optometry program, graduating in 1980 as a Doctor of Optometry.Dr. Gray began Optometry practice for his first year as working independently for Dr.I.A. Mendleson and associates in Sackville, NS. In 1981, he joined Dr.David Dobbelsteyn in practice on Granville Street, Halifax, taking over practice from Ron Wallace. He also credits Drs. Lawrence and Isabel in Bridgewater, and Dr. R. Rosere in Dartmouth for their mentorship during the beginning of his career. Dr. Gray’s areas of special interest include contact lenses, glaucoma screening, ocular disease in the diabetic population, and refractive surgery pre and postoperative care. Dr. Gray married Toby Mandelman, also an Optometrist, in 1988. They reside in the Tantallon area, and enjoy outdoor activities together. Kayaking, hiking, and adventure travel are passions for both. Paul’s passion for adventure is realized in his extensive participation in competitive motor sports as a driver and instructor. He is also committed to the disciplines of the martial arts, with a third degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. Paul is an avid skier, he plays gentleman’s league hockey, and more recently, he’s discovered the joys of golfing. Curriculum vitaeEducation:
