Dr. Leah GallieLeah was born and raised in Riverview, New Brunswick as the oldest of four. One of her favorite childhood memories include frequent camping trips with her family at Fundy National Park, NB.She graduated from Riverview High School in 1999. Directly after high school, she attended Mount Allison University and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She was then accepted at the University of Waterloo and spent about four years living and studying in Ontario. As part of her training, she completed an ocular disease rotation (with a concentration on diabetic retinopathy) in Dallas, Texas. She graduated as a Doctor of Optometry in 2007. During both her BSc and OD degrees, she was active in volunteer programs, including the United Way and YMCA, and worked as a teaching assistant. Summer months in the latter years of university were spent gaining clinical experience at different ophthalmology and optometry clinics in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Leah was involved in the Canadian Association of Optometry students while in school, and is currently a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Outside the office, Leah is an avid runner, and satisfies her love of the outdoors with hiking, camping, and travel. She enjoys yoga and soccer. Leah is thrilled to join Insight Optometry, and loves being back home in the Maritimes. Aside from her time providing care at Insight Optometry Group, she also practices at TLC Laser Eye Center in Halifax. At TLC, she determines patient eligibility for laser vision correction and imparts knowledge on PRK, conventional LASIK, Intralase or bladeless LASIK and custom or wavefront guided treatment.
