Dr. Carl DavisDr. Davis was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland in 1962. He grew up the oldest of three children. Following high school, Carl completed his first year of university at Memorial. Having an interest in physics and optics, he considered the Optometry Program at the University of Waterloo. He graduated in the spring of 1986 with a Bachelor of Science and Doctorate in Optometry.He enjoyed his years in Southern Ontario, but still had a “hankering” for the ocean and moved to Halifax, also in 1986, where he joined at the time, Dobbelsteyn and Gray, as an associate. It was a one-year contract but he has never looked back. He joined as a partner in 1988, the same year that the practice moved location from Granville Street to its current location on Brunswick Street. Within his profession, Dr. Davis has been involved over the years, having serving on many committees of the Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists (NSAO). He was elected to a two-year term as President in 1995 to 1997. Previously, he had served two-terms as Vice-President and one year as Secretary Treasurer. In the years following his term as President, he was heavily involved in a joint Optometry/Ophthalmology committee designed to provide better eye care to the citizens of Nova Scotia. Currently he serves as a Board Member of the Nova Scotia College of Optometry (NSCO). Personally, Carl is married to his lovely wife, Anne-Marie, who is a Pharmacist. They take great pride and enjoyment watching their two sons, Ryan and Christopher grow. They reside in Halifax but also spend many hours of pleasure swimming and boating at their lakefront cottage in Lunenburg County. Carl has been active in sailing over many the summers and enjoys skiing in the winter. It is great fun for Carl to return to Newfoundland and ski Marble Mountain. More recently, he has become involved in the Martial Art discipline of Tae Kwon Do. He thought it would be wise to do so, as his two sons are also involved in the sport.
